2. The Snakyra app

No account, no ads, no tracking

Snakyra does not require an account. The app contains no advertising, no analytics or tracking tools, and does not share any data with ad networks or data brokers. We do not build user profiles.

Game data on your device

Your runs (date, score, length, coverage and the board pattern of the run), your high score, your streak and your year calendar are stored only on your iPhone, as are settings such as sound on/off. This data is never sent to us and is deleted when you delete the app.

Game Center (optional)

Snakyra supports Apple Game Center leaderboards. If you are signed in to Game Center on your iPhone, the app sends your score to Apple after each run. Apple shows it together with your Game Center player name on the “All-Time” and “Daily Run” leaderboards, where other players can see it.

Apple is responsible for processing in Game Center: Apple Distribution International Ltd., Hollyhill Industrial Estate, Hollyhill, Cork, Ireland. Apple’s Privacy Policy applies. We only receive what is publicly visible on the leaderboards. The legal basis is your choice to take part in the leaderboards (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

If you do not want this, sign out under Settings → Game Center. Snakyra then works fully without leaderboards.

Sharing your result

“Share result” lets you pass on a short text with your score and a grid of symbols. This only happens when you trigger it yourself, and the text goes directly to the app you choose, such as Messages or WhatsApp. We receive nothing.

App Store

Snakyra is distributed through Apple’s App Store. When you download it, Apple processes data such as your Apple Account and purchase information under its own responsibility. We have no influence on this. The same applies to buying Snakyra Pro: payment and billing are handled entirely by Apple. We receive no payment data; the app only checks on the device whether the purchase exists.

Live with family (optional)

In a live round several people play at the same time and see each other’s scores. For this, the app stores in Apple’s public iCloud database (CloudKit): the name you enter yourself, your score and snake length, whether you are still playing, a chosen cheer emoji, the time you joined and a random device ID. The ID is generated in the app and is not your Apple Account. We receive no data about your iCloud account.

Everyone who knows the room code can see this information, so do not enter your full name if you do not want to. The app deletes its entries the next time it starts after 24 hours. You can delete them right away at any time in the app under Settings → “Delete my Live data now”. If you leave a waiting room before the start, you are removed immediately. The legal basis is your participation in the live round (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Apple’s Privacy Policy also applies to iCloud.

The app also stores your name locally on your iPhone so you do not have to type it every time. You can change or delete it under Settings in the app.

Ghost duel via link (optional)

When you send a ghost duel, your whole round is contained in the link: level, moves, score and the name you entered in the app. The part after the “#” is not sent to the server when snakyra.com is opened. We store none of it. Whoever receives the link can see this information; you decide who you share it with.

Run replay video, coach and widget

The replay video is created on your iPhone and is only shared if you share it yourself. The coach comment after a round is generated on the device with Apple Intelligence, without a server; on devices without Apple Intelligence the app uses fixed tips. The home screen widget and the Live Activity on the lock screen only read data the app stores locally on your iPhone.

Worldwide placement

After a ranked Daily Run the app asks Game Center for your rank and the number of participants and shows what percentage of players you beat today. The Game Center information above applies.

Nyra: chat, voice and speech input

Nyra answers questions about Snakyra. Answers are generated on your iPhone with Apple Intelligence or taken from a knowledge base stored in the app. Nothing is sent to us or to third parties. Speech output uses your iPhone's voices. If you talk to Nyra, the app asks for microphone and speech recognition access. Recognition runs on the device where your iPhone supports it; otherwise Apple processes the speech under Apple's Privacy Policy. Snakyra does not store recordings.

Hosting

The website is served via GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA). When you visit, GitHub processes technically necessary data, in particular your IP address, the date and time of access and browser information, to deliver the site securely. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in stable and secure operation (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). GitHub is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. See GitHub’s Privacy Statement.

No cookies, no third-party services

The website sets no cookies, uses no analytics and loads no fonts or scripts from third-party servers.

Emailing us

If you email us, we use your address and message only to answer your request (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR) and delete them once the request is resolved, unless legal retention periods apply.

4. Children

Snakyra is suitable for all ages. Because the app itself collects no personal data, we receive none from children either. Apple’s settings, including Screen Time and Family Sharing, apply to Game Center.

5. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21). Just write to support@snakyra.com.

You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. Ours is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information Baden-Württemberg, Lautenschlagerstraße 20, 70173 Stuttgart, Germany.

6. Changes

If the app or the law changes, we will update this policy. The version published here applies.
